Why I wouldn't join MLJ right now

“Never buy anyone’s course,” he said.

I was scrolling through Reels a few weeks ago when I came across that advice from a comedian.

He was talking about how everyone has a course now, and he's been tempted to buy courses before that claim they will help him in his business, but he doesn't think they're necessary or will actually help.

I squirmed for a moment when I saw that. Because, um, I sell a course.

And I actually sat there and thought about it for a moment: Am I part of the problem? Is selling a course bad?

But the more I thought about it, the more I realized Market Like Jesus isn’t that kind of course.

I know you’ve been bombarded with courses on every kind of thing related to business or ministry, and maybe you’re skeptical too that a course will actually help you get the word out.

So here’s what I would say makes Market Like Jesus different from all the other courses out there (aside from the fact that I use Scripture as a base for teaching marketing):

I'm not going to promise you that you will make more money by taking this course.

(What a sales pitch, right?)

Would I love that for you? Absolutely. And I want to give you the best shot of doing that by teaching you how to set up a marketing strategy you'll actually use and that works.

But I can't force you to do what the course says. You have to do the work for it to work.

And I'm not God. He's in control, not me and not even your marketing strategy.

But here’s what I can promise you:

I poured everything I know about marketing plans and strategy into this course.

I didn’t hold anything back. I spent YEARS researching for this course, through my master's degree program and my own personal research, and 100+ hours creating it (not to mention the hundreds of hours of consults I've done with Catholic business owners and ministry leaders walking them through these exact strategies).

All of the advice out there says to make short courses that focus on one thing.

And I know everyone wants the quick solution, and everything that's in Market Like Jesus can be daunting.

But I didn’t want to create a course that only gave you the bare minimum and gated everything else behind more paywalls.

So I did the opposite. Market Like Jesus is authentic, and it is FULL.

If marketing was easier, I wouldn't have all of these strategies in there. But they are essential, and I care too much about the importance of what you do to give you any less.

If you follow everything in this course, you’ll walk away with a fully fleshed out marketing plan so you never have to wonder “What should I do in marketing?” ever again.

It's all in there - how to know who you are and who you serve, how to reach people, and how to convert them to take action.

Nothing held back.

Join me in Market Like Jesus!

The other thing I'll promise?
I did everything I could to make sure you grow deeper in your faith through this course.

This is the marketing course for people who hate marketing or don't get it. I make it feel more like a Bible study and less like a course, so you focus on falling more in love with Jesus and learn marketing as a bonus.

Don't worry, we do a ton of practical marketing strategy work too.

"This course blew me away! I've attended a lot of online courses and the amount of content Emily provided was above and beyond any I've experienced.

Prior to the course, I used to feel like marketing was sleazy, but Emily gives examples of Jesus using these same exact principles to bring followers into His Kingdom. It was super eye opening! Now I feel more confident using these principles to encourage followers to join me in my ministry."

Listen, I would much rather do all of this live and 1:1. I LOVE being on calls with people. It's my favorite thing.

But that would be cost prohibitive for a lot of people, and there's also only so much time in the day, so it would limit how many people I could help.

So a course was the next best thing.

(And now with the monthly calls, it's kind of the best of both worlds! You get the main teaching on your own time, and then can check in with me live to stay on track and have your questions answered.)

But here are two reasons, if I were you, that I wouldn't sign up for Market Like Jesus right now:

  • You prefer a fully live-taught, cohort version.
If you learn better with more accountability and like being able to ask questions right in the moment, maybe hold off for right now. I'm hoping to do another live version in January 2027 - but it's important to note that will be much more expensive since it will be a lot more hands-on from me with a forum and live weekly calls, so it might be cost prohibitive for some.

  • Now isn't a good time.

You will now be able to sign up for the course any time at least through the end of 2026, so if now isn't a good time, you can wait until it is a good time. But the price will increase after tomorrow!

But if you don't fall into one of those two categories...now is the time to sign up! After tomorrow, the price will be going up, so if you sign up now, you can save some money and even start to have some of this strategy going before the big rush of Black Friday/Cyber Monday!

Okay, you're thinking...but what is "a lot," exactly?

Market Like Jesus is broken up into 12 modules (designed to take 1-2 weeks, but you can go at your own pace!), each focused on developing a piece of your marketing strategy, like figuring out your target audience or customer journey. We build it together step-by-step.

Throughout, you'll learn 35+ marketing strategies you can pick and choose from to create your unique plan.

Within each module we:

🙏 Start with an opening prayer.

📖 Then examine a Biblical passage that shows Jesus using the marketing strategy we'll be learning about.
(About 15-25 minute video or audio + reflection questions per module)

👩‍🏫 Next I teach you the marketing strategy we're developing that week and show you examples from other Catholic businesses and ministries so you can see it in action.
(About 60 minutes of videos per module, broken down into smaller chunks so you can easily watch here and there throughout the week)

📝 Then you go to your workbook for fill-in-the-blank prompts to discern and set it up for your own business or ministry.
(Meant to take anywhere from 30 minutes-two hours per module, depending on how deep you want to go)

I know it's a lot. But I'd rather give you all of it than hold some back and not giving you every tool I know to help you grow.

Because I am truly passionate about what you do for the Lord. And I want everyone possible to know about it.

So I put in Market Like Jesus everything I know about creating a marketing strategy.

And if you want to create one with Jesus at the center and have the full picture of marketing, then come join me in Market Like Jesus - on sale now through tomorrow (October 22) at 11:59 pm ET!

For His greater glory,

Emily

P.S. I know you may have been burned by courses in the past that were completely underwhelming. Market Like Jesus isn't like that. It is extensive and packed with everything I know about creating a marketing strategy like Jesus would.

Enrollment is open and on sale, but only through tomorrow night at 11:59 pm ET, so don't wait to join me inside!

P.P.S. Considering it but have other questions or hesitations? Hit reply and ask - I promise I'll answer honestly if I think it would be a good fit for you right now!

It's not just you. Marketing is harder than it used to be. Facebook is now only letting business pages post two links per month unless you pay them. AI has completely changed how SEO works. You basically need a master's degree in Instagram for the algorithm show your posts to your followers. Not to mention the sheer volume of marketing content that just grows by the day. And you're over here like "I just want to tell more Catholics about what I do!" But it sometimes feels like reaching them...

Click, clack. Click, clack. My foot distractedly hit the loose metal filing cabinet knob up and down as I directed the parishioner's call. Once I was off the phone, I looked at it. "Someone should really fix that," I mused as I moved onto my next task. Each week at my shift as the night secretary for the parish office, I'd inevitably hit the loose drawer handle with my foot and think, "That's really annoying." Or pull out the drawer to put a file in and roll my eyes that no one had fixed it...

It was the SECOND paper trimmer I'd bought in a week. And it somehow still wasn't working. I sat on the floor of our apartment sobbing. My husband (perhaps just a teensy bit scared at what he'd signed up for marrying me) pulled out a pair of scissors, and we got to work, meticulously trimming the 150 wedding programs I'd designed for a client. How did I end up here? Because I didn't have a marketing plan. I was accidentally working on a new business idea at my wedding. Now before you call me...
