I can't believe I posted this in 2017. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

Fun fact: I was half planning a new business offering on my wedding day.

So romantic, I know.

For our wedding program, I'd included an insert for non-practicing guests, walking them through what was happening theologically in the sacrament, but in real people, evangelistic language.

My pastor LOVED them.

He literally pulled me aside after the wedding Mass and told me I should make them for other couples.

So I started an Instagram account in 2017 to promote my wedding program design services...and my church marketing services.

(The connection was fuzzy at best.)

And having had no social media until I was 18, I was not exactly the best at Instagram.

See exhibit A.

Yes, my friends, that was designed in WORD ART. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ I promise, I'm much better at design now.

Thankfully, marketing used to be a lot more...forgiving.

(RIP getting 15 likes on a static image post.)

But a trip back through Gloriam's Instagram circa 2017-2018 is equally rough.

Lots of random posts that had nothing to do with marketing (or wedding programs, which I quickly abandoned after that evening I spent HOURS trimming 100+ programs by hand).

Brand colors that were ALL over the place so that my posts were unrecognizable.

Throwing out completely different and random services to see if people would bite.

All. The. Hashtags.

Why am I sharing this, aside from publicly humiliating myself?

Because that's what marketing is like when you don't have a plan.

It looks messy and chaotic. And it feels messy and chaotic trying to do it.

It takes so much longer β€” and I can assure you it wasn't profitable.

So what changed?

I started marketing like Jesus.

➑️ I figured out exactly who He was calling me to serve and who He was NOT calling me to serve β€” just like Jesus did (Mark 2:17).

➑️ I solidified what I offered and how that solved people's problems (John 14:6) and then called them to take action (Matthew 16:24).

➑️ I figured out how to stand out in the noise, walk people through my marketing on THEIR timeline, and create convincing content without being salesy β€” just like Jesus did (John 4:4-42).

(And about 27 other foundational marketing strategies Jesus also used.)

None of these were "go viral quick" strategies.

But going viral won't change anything if you don't know how to convince those new eyeballs to take action.

And launching something without strategy has about as good a chance of succeeding as the Pope coming to say Mass at your parish this Sunday.

You need to know the foundational who you are, who you serve, how you help them, and how you'll market to them first for those other things to work.

It's a mix of strategy and Holy Spirit inspiration β€” and that's the kind of marketing I want to teach you in Market Like Jesus.

But what does marketing like Jesus
really mean?

βœ… It means much clearer and less "messy" marketing you feel proud of β€” and that actually produces results.

βœ… It means having a "the algorithm hates me"-proof plan to still reach people.

βœ… It means your marketing takes WAY less time because you have a plan that consistently works instead of chasing every trend and spinning out doing "all the things" (or fighting writer's block when you need to promote something).

Plus your marketing feels more natural and personal and way more effective...

And that's exactly what I'm going to teach you how to do in Market Like Jesus!

Inside we'll

1️⃣ Figure out exactly who you serve, what you do, and how to articulate it so people care.

2️⃣ Set up a plan for exactly how you're going to reach them.

3️⃣ Put strategies in place so once you reach them, you convince them buy, donate, show up for your event β€” whatever you want them to do!

All by learning about these principles in the Bible first, then I'll walk with you to implement them yourself!

Want to know exactly what you'll learn? Here's the full course outline.

I know what messy, chaotic marketing feels like, the lack of results, and how it makes you wonder if God is actually even calling you to this (see 2017 post above).

But I care too much about the gifts and talents God's called you to share with the world to let you stay there.

Because I also know how much more effective and peaceful marketing like Jesus is.

And I know that with these strategies, more people will hear about what you're doing and draw closer to the Lord.

So I'd love for you to join me inside Market Like Jesus, where we'll discover the marketing strategy Jesus left us in the Gospels and apply it to modern marketing channels to grow your business or ministry like He would.

You can sign up right here, and I'll see you inside.

For His greater glory,

Emily

P.S. Market Like Jesus is now open for enrollment through June 2! Inside, you'll learn Jesus' exact (and timeless!) marketing strategy and how to implement it in your business or ministry today, alongside me and other Catholic businesses and ministries like yours. Learn more and sign up here.

"Before you go, do you want this special one-time offer?" The message flashed on my screen. I managed to find the 6 point font at the very bottom that said "No, thanks, I'm an idiot who wants life to be harder" (or something along those lines). Immediately, another one popped up. "So you didn't want that one, but what about this one?" Nope, still not interested. "Are you SURE you don't want it now? I just cut the price in half JUST FOR YOU. But this is a limited time offer that will never...

God can be kind of funny sometimes. Take this week for instance. I got to my newsletter writing time and decided I didn't like what I had intended to write for today. (Don't worry, I'll write it at some point. I just haven't fully fleshed out the idea yet.) Anyway, I asked the Lord what He wanted me to share instead, and I wasn't getting much. So I did what my next bet always is: Turned to the readings for yesterday (Sunday) to see if I could find any Jesus marketing connections. And just...

There was no newsletter last week because I was still catching up after an incredible weekend: my dad was ordained a deacon! It was a beautiful weekend full of incredible moments getting to celebrate all of my dad's hard work leading up to this new vocation. But of course, it wouldn't be me if I didn't have a few marketing takeaways for you too from the ordination :) Prepare for the long game. Surprisingly, my dad didn't just show up at the cathedral on ordination day and say, "Hm, I'd like...
